Hello everyone
It has been a busy time for the preschool, we have celebrated Naidoc Week in the most relevant meaningful ways possible through our stories, art expression, conversation, music and song. Please observe the inspiring work of art the children created this week in acknowledgment to Naidoc Week. The Awabakal landscape on which we learn, and Sally Morgan’s beautiful book illustrations inspired and produced a work of value, honesty, meaning and colour.
As you know, each preschool morning, we meet to give our Acknowledgement to Country to honour the Awabakal land and Aboriginal peoples that our preschool stands on. The children know when to move our meeting place when they hear the song ‘Bapa’ by Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. The children chose the words for our acknowledgement identifying their natural surrounds and the people who they learn and meet with each day.
We have been studying the weather at the preschool, looking to the sky during our morning meeting to observe and identify the weather outlook. Yesterday was cloudy. Each day a ‘weather forecaster’ is chosen, the forecaster fills in the weather day sheet. You will find the sheet attached to the outdoor whiteboard display under the water, energy and soap saver names of the day.
We are also distinguishing the days of the week through name and logo. Your child will have taken home a day/week sheet for reference. You may like to refer to this sheet to help children learn their preschool and home days by name and sequence.
Could all CVC 2020 enrolled parents please connect with the closed CVC Families Facebook page, this week you will discover one of our pre-schoolers reading a story for the children. I will also start posting children’s learning photos and reflections. Don’t miss out on this extra opportunity to hear and view your child’s learning. Parents are more than welcome to post relevant content and photos too!
Until next time, Leonie:)
